Perspective

I've been trying to put some things into perspective lately. I watch other people take things for granted, complain about things that aren't so important, and not take advantage of opportunities that are practically handed to them and I think how wasteful or selfish. I also see people only looking at one side of the situation and I think how ignorant! - why can't they see the big picture? I've realized there's a lot I take for granted that I need to start appreciating more - little things that may seem insignificant but are really what is important. I guess I can't do anything about how other people live their lives or how they perceive the world, but there's no excuse for me.

So here's me taking a step back...

Great Weekend!

Had a great weekend!! Got a pedicure with Shelley, went to see Gabriel Iglesias with Trey, Jorge and Catherine, and went out to Katy! Mom and Lily's birthday's were Sunday. Unfortunately, we couldn't make the trip to Nashville to celebrate with mom. I bought Lily some 'frosty paws' doggy ice cream that a lady at work told me about to celebrate her birthday. It wasn't much of a celebration since we were gone all day and she probably just slept! This has been a surprisingly busy week; however, not as exciting and fun as the weekend... Work has been busy which is pretty nice actually! I hate not having stuff to do. Trey installed the new shelving which looks great! Then the AC unit broke. The guy who came out is very nice and seems to be very honest and likes to educate us about the system. At least it broke in late February instead of in the middle of the summer in Houston! The weather's been so nice and warm the past week, i can't wait for Summer! I'm looking forward to what the next few weeks hold for us!

2011

I've decided to be more diligent in a lot of things this year. Since January is over halfway over, I guess setting new years resolutions are out. I'll try and just focus more on goals I guess. Here goes..

1. .....

Well, I'll keep working on that i guess. In other news, Trey's knee surgery is tomorrow morning. I think I'm more nervous about it than he is haha! I'm sure he'll be fine and I trust God will watch over him and everything will go well.  I''m just glad he'll start to feel better! I'm taking off work a few days to be able to take care of him. I even bought some of his favorite foods for me to cook over the next few days!

So, alot's happened over the past month.

We had a great visit to Tennessee over the holidays! Saw tons of friends and family that we rarely see anymore being in Texas. It was good just to be home for awhile. We even had a white Christmas!! Its the only one I can remember. It was really a blessing to see.  We of course got way more than we deserved and were thankful the roads were clear enough for us to be able to go to all of our family gatherings! Trey's sister Catlyn turned 17... crazy! She's grown up so fast. We met her new boyfriend Andrew and liked him a lot. It's still weird thinking that she is dating, driving, taking the ACT, going to dances, and visiting colleges. Trey and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary. I can't believe we've been together for 8 years. Its been a great journey so far and I'm excited for the years to come. I went to my first Titan's game and we made it to some Pred's games, of course! This was the best holiday season I think we've ever had and I can't wait to see what the year holds.

Lily had a great Christmas too! She got to see Lacy, Trey's parent's dog. She made the 14 hour drive pretty good in her travel crate. I definitely think she was happy to be home and back to her normal routine of eating and sleeping. She really is the happiest dog alive! And I love her!

I miss everyone terribly, but it's nice to be back in a normal routine. I'll admit though, it wasn't the easiest thing going back to work after having over 2 weeks off! There are still some budget issues at work and we are only getting a month to month budget so things are a little uncertain at work. Hopefully everything will work out alright for all of us on my contract. I know it's in God's hands and a path will be provided. Trey's job is going great and he still loves it - which means we won't be moving back to Nashville for a while. But I keep reminding myself that this is a great opportunity for him that isn't available to everyone. I'm so proud of the work he's done and the experiences he's had. Working as a contractor for NASA is definitely an amazing experience.

2010 was amazing so 2011 has high standards to meet! Here's to a great year (or 11 months and 12 days in this case)!

What to say... Lily?

Most of the time I don't have a problem finding something to say. But when I sat down this evening to make my first post, my mind went blank. It's hard to believe I would have writers block before ever getting starting. What to people write about? Business, politics, religion, life? What broad categories. I follow my favorite author's blog and end up laughing till I cry. Could I be funny? I've read where people open up their lives for everyone to read. Not sure I'm ready for that one. Some people write to be an inspiration to others. That would be cool, but I'd have to do something inspirational first. Maybe I'll find what I'm supposed to write about. Maybe it will just come to me one day. Until then, there's always Lily.

Lily is my beagle. I call her a beagle b/c that's what she is... technically. In reality, she truly believes she is a person. She is really good at getting what she wants. Things like a few bites of my dinner or ALL of the covers at night. She lives a life of luxury really. She sleeps on pillows and gets held like a baby. She won't go outside if it's to cold and she won't go in the grass if it's wet. She prefers to play indoors where she doesn't have to run too far. She likes to lay in the sun, in the air conditioning of course. If she were a real person, she actually might be one of those people who feels they are entitled to everything and might give you an attitude if her dinner was taking too long or there was a smudge on her water glass.

Sounds like a handful, right? That being said, she's the best dog I've ever had. She may be spoiled rotten, but she loves us. Nothing makes her happier than waiting at the front door and seeing us get out of the car when we get home. She doesn't judge, she doesn't criticise, she snuggles when you need it, and even when you don't. And even though she steals the covers in the night and is too stuck up to pee in the wet grass, I love her!

So until I find what I need to write about, there's Lily.
